The City of Dumaguete has expressed its appreciation and commendation to Robinson's Place Dumaguete for recently winning the Shopping Center of the Year 2012 award from the Philippine Retailers Association and the Department of Trade and Industry.

The City Council, in a resolution sponsored by Councilor Noel de Jesus which was unanimously approved by all councilors, commended the Robinson's Place Dumaguete not only for the honor the award has brought to Dumaguete, but also for partnering with the community in bringing health and advocacy programs to the City.

The Resolution was presented to Joseph Sian, Robinson's Land Corporation operations manager for Vis-Min and Mary Grace T. Lim, the mall's operations manager, by Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, Vice Mayor Alan Gel Cordova and the rest of the City Councilors during last week's regular City Council session.

On hand to witness the event was Edward Du, the president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The mall is set to open its Lingkod Pinoy Center featuring Philhealth Express and the Department of Foreign Affairs which will give Dumaguetenos as well as those from other parts of Negros Oriental the convenience of renewing their passports or availing of their Philhealth benefits inside the mall.

Robinsons already hosts the Land Transportation Office License Renewal Center, which gives motorists fast service.

The Mall has also opened the first integrated public transport terminal in Negros Oriental in partnership with the transport sector to help decongest theCity's vehicular traffic and provide modern terminal amenities.

Sian said the award was based on the mal's completeness of retail and product mix; availability of clean restrooms; friendly facilities for persons with disabilities, WiFi, elevators, clinic, a passenger terminal, a hotel and marketing programs.

"We have very diverse marketing and promotion scheme that includes sports, cultural, historical and educational events," Sian said.

Since the mall first opened in 2009, it has exhibited sales growth of 25.9 percent, Sian said.

"We were also judged according to our leasing policies and procedures that are tenant-friendly. At the same tie, we made sure that we follow and environmentally friendly operation through our wastewater treatment facility and various programs that promote and protect the environment," he said.
